A few weeks ago we participated in the 21 Day Daniel Fast. We did this mainly for spiritual reasons, to get closer to God and tonchange some of the ways we had been doing things in live. But we also enjoyed the physical benefits, including losing some unwanted pounds. One of our favorite things to eat on this fast was this delicious homemade applesauce! I had never made applesauce before and I was so happy with the way this turned out and how EASY it was!
Here’s what you need:
7 Gala apples
1/8 c. water (I originally made it with 1/4 c water and it turned out too watery so I had to cook some of the water out of it, oops)
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1 pinch of Himalayan salt
And here are the instructions (quite easily the easiest instructions for anything you will ever make):
Dice the apples, add the water, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and pinch of Himalayan salt. Use your Instant Pot and cook on high pressure for 6 minutes with natural pressure release. Mash the apples with a potato masher. (If you don’t have an Instant Pot, go grab one NOW! You can find it here. We have the 8 qt one for our family of 7, but since our family includes small children, we could probably get by with the 6 qt found here).
Seriously, so simple. And so good!! And did I mention how amazing my house smelled?
